Cyber Security Simulation Exercises
A cyber incident can escalate quickly, affecting systems, operations, customers and reputation. A realistic simulation gives your team the opportunity to practise its response in a controlled environment – before a real incident puts plans and people under pressure.
RQA develops tailored cyber security exercises that test how organisations identify, escalate, manage and communicate during an evolving incident.
Why run a cyber simulation?
An effective cyber response depends on more than technical recovery. It requires clear roles, timely decisions and coordinated action across IT, leadership, operations, legal and communications. Simulations help expose gaps and turn lessons into practical improvements.
RQA specialises in helping product manufacturers in the food and drink, consumer product, automotive and pharmaceutical industries.
Exercise formats
Tabletop exercises
Facilitated discussion-based scenarios bring relevant stakeholders together to work through a developing cyber incident. Standard tabletop sessions typically last two to three hours, with scope and duration adapted to the organisation’s needs.
Hybrid and immersive exercises
More involved formats can incorporate realistic injects, simulated communications and evolving information to test decision-making and coordination in greater depth. The format is tailored to the objectives, participants and level of challenge required.
How the exercise works
- Define objectives and identify the relevant teams, risks and response arrangements.
- Develop a credible scenario tailored to your organisation and sector.
- Facilitate the exercise, introducing developments and decisions as the incident unfolds.
- Capture observations, strengths and opportunities for improvement.
- Provide a post-exercise report with findings and recommendations.
For standard exercises, a report is typically provided within 10 working days following the session, subject to the agreed scope.
Scenarios that reflect your business
Exercises can be built around issues such as ransomware, compromised suppliers, loss of critical systems, data breaches or disruption to manufacturing and operational technology. They can also test the connections between cyber incident response, business continuity and crisis communications.
