Recruiting for Head of Business Development

Role Description

This is a full-time role as RQA’s Head of Business Development. The successful candidate will oversee business development initiatives, including identifying and closing your own sales and new business prospects, cultivating relationships with clients / prospects, leading the business development team and driving sales and account management strategies.

Key skills

  1. Proven track record in successful business development and sales for a consultancy, training, auditing firm or other similar organisation (e.g. laboratory operation).
  2. Experience in developing and executing growth strategies and sales plans.
  3. Negotiation with C-suite related to fees and complex contracts.
  4. Highly experienced and comfortable in handling and running client and account management meetings with a range of client types at management and board levels.
  5. Line management experience.
  6. Well established contacts network within relevant industries.
  7. Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  8. Experience in presenting at industry meetings and conferences.
  9. Knowledge of the issues facing the food / consumer / automotive / pharma products industries relating to product risk and wider businesses and international issues.
  10. Fluent English – other languages not essential but could be helpful.
  11. High level of attention to detail in all work outputs.
  12. Highly proficient in the Microsoft Office package and other relevant systems.

Location

The role can be home based or hybrid. The successful candidate will ideally be within about 1 hour travel from central London and Reading as there will be reasonably regular client meetings in the City and team meetings in the RQA Reading office.

There will be some travel in this role but it will not be excessive and long haul will be rare.
