On September 18 2018 The UK Food Standards Agency published its “Annual report on local authority food law enforcement”. It is interesting to note from the report the total number of establishments subject to at least one type of food hygiene enforcement action reported in England, Northern Ireland and Wales in 2017/18 was 155,861 compared with 152,405 in 2016/17. This represents an increase of 2.3%. Table 7 on page 15 shows a list of all the types of hygiene enforcement actions including hygiene improvement notices, seizure, detention and surrender of food, hygiene emergency prohibition notice and several others. It is important all food businesses are aware of all these enforcement actions.
